Two things decide whether you can trade: the broker must accept your country, and your own country's law must allow you to trade with a foreign broker. A broker accepting you does not make it legal where you live, so check both.

FP Markets publishes no list: if your country is not on its sign-up form, it is not accepted.
What traders get
What to watch
Ten parameters, weighted the same way for every broker. The share shows how much each one counts towards the score; the label is what we found for FP Markets.
A regulator licenses brokers and supervises how they treat clients. Top-tier regulators such as the FCA (UK), ASIC (Australia) and CySEC (EU) set strict rules on client money, leverage and complaints; offshore regulators set lighter ones. Most brokers run several companies, and the one named in your client agreement decides which rules protect you. Negative balance protection means you cannot lose more than the money in your account.
FP Markets is an Australian group, headquartered in Sydney since 2005. The company that opens your account depends on your country, and that decides how well you are protected. Pick your region:
The Reserve Bank of India's Alert List (updated 19 November 2025) names FP Markets at entry 45, among platforms not authorised to deal in forex in India.
FP Markets also names the FSCA (South Africa) and the FSA (Seychelles) on its regulation page, without licence numbers. The group is audited by LNP Audit and Assurance. Check the company named in your client agreement on the regulator's own register.
Is FP Markets regulated? Full check →Before you can trade or withdraw, a broker must check who you are. This is called KYC, short for "know your customer". You usually upload a photo ID and a recent bill or bank statement showing your address. Practise on a demo account with virtual money before you deposit real money.
Document checks take up to 1 business day; FP Markets aims for within the hour. Accounts with a zero balance and no activity for 3 months are disabled, with no fee; email to reactivate. Demo accounts expire after 30 days without a login.
Step-by-step account guide →The spread is the gap between the buy and sell price, and it is the main cost on accounts without commission. A pip is the fourth decimal on most currency pairs (0.0001); on one standard lot of EUR/USD, 1 pip is worth about $10. Raw and ECN accounts have tighter spreads but add a fixed commission per lot, so always compare the total cost.
Standard adds a 1-pip mark-up to the raw price and charges no commission. Raw passes on the raw price and charges US$3 per lot per side. Slide to your size for EUR/USD at September 2026 average spreads.
Uses FP Markets' September 2026 average spreads, $10 per pip per standard lot, and the Raw account's US$6 round-turn commission. Live spreads move with the market. Swaps are extra on positions held overnight.
| Cost | What FP Markets charges |
|---|---|
| Commission | Standard: none. Raw: US$3 per lot per side on MT4/MT5 (2.75 EUR, 2.25 GBP in other base currencies); cTrader $3 per lot each way. |
| Share CFDs | US shares 2 cents per share (min US$2 a side); UK and Europe 0.10%; Hong Kong 0.20%; Australia 0.05% (min A$5). |
| Deposits | No FP Markets fee. |
| Withdrawals | No fee on bank wire withdrawals. |
| Inactivity | No admin fee; empty, idle accounts are disabled after 3 months. |

One standard lot (100,000 units) opened and closed, using each broker's cheapest published EUR/USD pricing: spread × $10 plus the round-turn commission. "From" spreads are best-case, so live costs at those brokers are usually higher than shown; "average" and "typical" are the brokers' own published averages. Swaps are not included. Sources: each broker's own site, checked between 30 September and 19 October 2026.
A swap is interest you pay or earn when you keep a trade open past the daily rollover, because a currency trade borrows one currency to buy another. Many brokers charge three days on Wednesday to cover the weekend. An Islamic or swap-free account removes this interest, sometimes with a fixed admin fee instead.
| When you pay | At 00:00 server time (5 pm New York). Forex and metals triple on Wednesday; indices, energies and crypto on Friday. |
|---|---|
| Example | EUR/USD: −6.47 points long, +2.83 points short (FP Markets swap page). |
| Islamic account | No swaps, but a nightly admin fee per lot: EUR/USD $6, GBP/USD $3, USD/JPY $15, gold $50, after a 5-night grace period. |
| No grace period | Some symbols are charged from the first night, such as Bitcoin ($60), US30 ($9) and WTI oil ($53). Unlisted symbols pay normal swaps. |
A standard lot is 100,000 units of currency, a mini lot 10,000 and a micro lot 1,000. A cent account shows your balance in cents, so you can trade very small sizes while you learn. Standard accounts usually cost more in spread; raw accounts cost less in spread but charge commission.

FP Markets account types compared →Leverage lets you open a bigger position with less money: at 1:100, $100 controls $10,000. It multiplies losses exactly as much as profits. Margin is the money held to keep a trade open; at the margin call level you are warned, and at the stop out level the broker starts closing your trades. Most beginners are safer with low leverage.
| Maximum | 1:500, set by instrument and your chosen preference (from 1:1) |

| Margin call | At a 100% margin level, by email |
| Stop out | At a 50% margin level, closing the largest loss first |

MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) are the most widely used trading platforms; MT5 is newer, with more markets and tools. cTrader and TradingView are popular for their charts. Expert advisors (EAs) are programs that trade automatically on MetaTrader.

FP Markets platforms compared →Most of what brokers offer are CFDs (contracts for difference): you trade the price of gold, an index, a share or a coin without owning it. Spreads differ from market to market and usually widen around big news and when markets open.

Forex trades Monday 00:02 to Friday 23:57 server time; crypto 24/5; US shares 16:30–23:00. Raw adds share CFDs to the Standard range of forex, metals, indices, commodities and digital currencies.
FP Markets spreads by account →Market execution fills your order at the best price available, which can be slightly different from the price you clicked; that difference is called slippage. Scalping means holding trades for seconds or minutes. A VPS is a remote computer that keeps your platform and EAs running when your own computer is off.
| Pricing | Raw prices stream from liquidity providers; FP Markets says there is no dealing-desk intervention and no requotes. |
|---|---|
| Servers | Equinix NY4 (New York) and LD4 (London). |
| Styles allowed | Scalping and hedging, with no minimum stop distance. |
| Expert advisors | Allowed, up to 5,000 actions per 24 hours; above that the account is set to read-only. |
| Free VPS | Monthly volume above 5 lots (Standard) or 10 lots (Raw) of forex and metals on MT4/MT5, or 20 / 40 lots on cTrader. New traders depositing US$1,000 are sponsored. |
Copy trading automatically copies another trader's positions into your account. Their past results do not guarantee future ones, and you pay them through a profit share or a wider spread. Start with a small amount and keep a stop loss.
| Social Trading | On MT4 and MT5: browse provider ratings, choose a copy mode, follow as many providers as you like. |
|---|---|
| Become a provider | Register in the Client Portal and set your own performance fee and interval. |
| MAM and PAMM | MAM runs sub-accounts under a limited power of attorney; PAMM pools funds for a manager's fee. |
| cTrader Copy | Built into cTrader. |
To stop money laundering, brokers usually send withdrawals back to the card, bank or wallet you deposited from, and only to an account in your own name. You must be verified to withdraw, and your bank or payment provider can add its own time and fees.
You can withdraw with trades open if your free funds cover it. Funding currencies include AUD, USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, HKD, NZD, CHF, CAD, JPY, PLN, CZK and AED. No interest is paid on balances.
FP Markets withdrawals explained →A deposit bonus is usually trading credit, not cash. It adds margin to your account, but you cannot withdraw it, only the profits you make, and often only after trading a set volume. Read the terms before you accept one.

FP Markets is a strong pick for cost-conscious traders who want every major platform: Raw spreads averaging 0.1 pips on EUR/USD for US$3 a side, MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, and no deposit fees. The weak point is where many accounts are held. FP Markets Ltd in Saint Lucia is a registered company, not a licensed broker, and is outside any compensation scheme. If you can open with the ASIC or CySEC company, that is the safer choice.
We never tell you to trade, so read FP Markets's disclosures first. Our promise
What traders say about FP Markets in their own words. These ratings are separate from FX Recap's own score of 4.75, which comes from our review.

Its Australian company holds ASIC licence AFSL 286354 (since 2005) and its EU company CySEC licence 371/18. But FP Markets Ltd, which serves many other countries, is only registered in Saint Lucia (2025-00853), not licensed, and is not in a compensation fund.

Skrill and Neteller arrive in one business day. Cards and wires take longer; FP Markets suggests asking for a trace after 7 business days for cards and 10 for wires. Bank wire withdrawals carry no FP Markets fee.
FP Markets returns deposits to each method first, cards first, and only then pays profits to another account in your name. If a card refund hasn't arrived after 7 business days, ask FP Markets for the ARN; for a wire after 10 business days, ask for the SWIFT copy.
Yes. Scalping and hedging are allowed, there is no minimum stop distance, and expert advisors can run up to 5,000 actions in 24 hours.
No. FP Markets offers no deposit or trading bonuses.
FP Markets does not publish a list of restricted countries, so its sign-up form shows whether yours is accepted. The country check on this page also flags sanctions and local rules.
