Two things decide whether you can trade: the broker must accept your country, and your own country's law must allow you to trade with a foreign broker. A broker accepting you does not make it legal where you live, so check both.

What traders get
What to watch
Ten parameters, weighted the same way for every broker. The share shows how much each one counts towards the score; the label is what we found for FXTM.
A regulator licenses brokers and supervises how they treat clients. Top-tier regulators such as the FCA (UK), ASIC (Australia) and CySEC (EU) set strict rules on client money, leverage and complaints; offshore regulators set lighter ones. Most brokers run several companies, and the one named in your client agreement decides which rules protect you. Negative balance protection means you cannot lose more than the money in your account.
FXTM is a brand of the Exinity group. The company you join depends on where you live. Pick your region:
Exinity Limited does not serve residents of the UK, the US, India, Canada, Japan, Mauritius, Iran, Russia and several other countries.
See FCA-regulated brokers →FXTM says it has more than 1 million clients in 150+ countries. Check the company named in your client agreement on the regulator's own register.
Is FXTM regulated? Full check →Before you can trade or withdraw, a broker must check who you are. This is called KYC, short for "know your customer". You usually upload a photo ID and a recent bill or bank statement showing your address. Practise on a demo account with virtual money before you deposit real money.
Proof of residence can be in a family member's or landlord's name if that is stated. Five wrong passwords lock the profile for 24 hours, and changing your password pauses withdrawals for 4 hours.
Step-by-step account guide →The spread is the gap between the buy and sell price, and it is the main cost on accounts without commission. A pip is the fourth decimal on most currency pairs (0.0001); on one standard lot of EUR/USD, 1 pip is worth about $10. Raw and ECN accounts have tighter spreads but add a fixed commission per lot, so always compare the total cost.
Micro and the Rewards accounts put the cost in the spread. Advantage starts from 0.0 pips and charges a commission. The fees to plan for are on withdrawals and on idle accounts.
| Cost | What FXTM charges |
|---|---|
| Advantage commission | Forex $3.50 per side ($7 a round turn); metals $25 per million; crypto 0.03%; stock CFDs $0.02 per side per lot |

One standard lot (100,000 units) opened and closed, using each broker's cheapest published EUR/USD pricing: spread × $10 plus the round-turn commission. "From" spreads are best-case, so live costs at those brokers are usually higher than shown; "average" and "typical" are the brokers' own published averages. Swaps are not included. Sources: each broker's own site, checked between 30 September and 19 October 2026.
A swap is interest you pay or earn when you keep a trade open past the daily rollover, because a currency trade borrows one currency to buy another. Many brokers charge three days on Wednesday to cover the weekend. An Islamic or swap-free account removes this interest, sometimes with a fixed admin fee instead.

A standard lot is 100,000 units of currency, a mini lot 10,000 and a micro lot 1,000. A cent account shows your balance in cents, so you can trade very small sizes while you learn. Standard accounts usually cost more in spread; raw accounts cost less in spread but charge commission.

Margin call and stop out are 50% and 20% on Micro and the Rewards accounts, and 80% and 50% on Advantage. Leverage can only be changed with no positions open.
FXTM account types compared →Leverage lets you open a bigger position with less money: at 1:100, $100 controls $10,000. It multiplies losses exactly as much as profits. Margin is the money held to keep a trade open; at the margin call level you are warned, and at the stop out level the broker starts closing your trades. Most beginners are safer with low leverage.
| How it works | Leverage floats with the size of your position: the bigger the notional, the lower the leverage. |

| Around news | 1:200 on new positions from 12 minutes before to 2 minutes after high-impact news, and lower before the daily break and the Friday close |
FXTM says the leverage offered to you also depends on your knowledge and experience.
How FXTM leverage works →MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) are the most widely used trading platforms; MT5 is newer, with more markets and tools. cTrader and TradingView are popular for their charts. Expert advisors (EAs) are programs that trade automatically on MetaTrader.

FXTM platforms compared →Most of what brokers offer are CFDs (contracts for difference): you trade the price of gold, an index, a share or a coin without owning it. Spreads differ from market to market and usually widen around big news and when markets open.

Trading stocks with FXTM →Market execution fills your order at the best price available, which can be slightly different from the price you clicked; that difference is called slippage. Scalping means holding trades for seconds or minutes. A VPS is a remote computer that keeps your platform and EAs running when your own computer is off.

To stop money laundering, brokers usually send withdrawals back to the card, bank or wallet you deposited from, and only to an account in your own name. You must be verified to withdraw, and your bank or payment provider can add its own time and fees.
Card and crypto deposits go back to their source first; profits can go to any method in your name. Your first withdrawal to a new crypto wallet needs a confirmation phone call. A 5-digit security code protects withdrawals.
FXTM withdrawals explained →A deposit bonus is usually trading credit, not cash. It adds margin to your account, but you cannot withdraw it, only the profits you make, and often only after trading a set volume. Read the terms before you accept one.

Watch the costs that sit outside trading: $3 card and $30 wire withdrawals, a 3% charge if you withdraw without trading, and $10 a month on idle accounts. Its licences are from Mauritius and South Africa, not a top-tier regulator.
