RoboForex is an offshore broker with a $10 minimum deposit, raw-spread accounts, more than 12,000 instruments on its own platform and a built-in copy trading service. FP Markets is a raw-spread broker that has traded since 2005, with ASIC and CySEC licences in its group, four platforms and more than 10,000 CFDs. The better fit depends on where you live, how often you trade and which company would hold your account.

A “winner” here means the better published figure on that one line. It is not a recommendation: the right broker depends on where you live and how you trade.

Regulation and Safety

RoboForex Ltd is registered with the FSC in Belize, an offshore regulator. It adds private protections: category A membership of The Financial Commission, whose Compensation Fund covers up to €20,000 per case, civil liability insurance of up to €2,500,000, and negative balance protection.

FP Markets’ group is regulated by ASIC in Australia and CySEC in Cyprus, and its site also names the FSCA in South Africa and the FSA in Seychelles. Many international clients, however, are placed with FP Markets Ltd, which is registered in Saint Lucia and is not a member of an investor compensation fund.

On paper FP Markets has the stronger regulatory footprint, but that only helps if your account sits with one of its strictly regulated companies. Check which company your country places you with before you deposit.

Trading Costs

On commission-free accounts, RoboForex lists: Pro and ProCent from 1.3 pips. FP Markets lists: Standard from 1.0 pip (EUR/USD average 1.2). “From” figures are minimums, so expect wider live spreads, especially around news.

Both offer a raw-spread account. RoboForex: ECN and Prime from 0 pips plus a commission per $1 million traded. FP Markets: Raw from 0.0 pips (EUR/USD average 0.1) plus US$3 per side. For frequent traders, a raw account usually costs less per trade than a spread-only one.

RoboForex lists no inactivity fee. FP Markets lists no inactivity fee. Withdrawal fees: RoboForex: by method (for example Skrill 1%, cards up to 2.6% + $1.30); first withdrawal free on three Tuesdays a month; FP Markets: none on bank wires from FP Markets.

Platforms and Copy Trading

RoboForex offers MT4, MT5 and R StocksTrader. FP Markets offers MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView.

RoboForex’s copy trading: Copy Trading Service (formerly CopyFX), from $100. FP Markets’s copy trading: Social Trading on MT4 and MT5; cTrader Copy. Copying another trader doesn’t remove risk: you can lose money as fast as trading yourself.

Leverage

RoboForex’s maximum leverage: 1:2000 on Pro and ProCent; 1:500 on ECN; 1:300 on Prime. FP Markets’s: 1:500.

A higher maximum is not an advantage in itself. Leverage multiplies losses as fast as gains, so beginners should use far less than either broker allows.

Which One Should You Choose?

Go with RoboForex if:

  • You want to start from $10, including on a cent account
  • You want thousands of stocks on R StocksTrader
  • You want copy trading and a free VPS for active accounts

Go with FP Markets if:

  • You trade often and want raw spreads with a low commission
  • You want cTrader or TradingView
  • You want a group with ASIC and CySEC licences

Whichever you choose, test a small withdrawal early, verify your account before you need your money, and risk only what you can afford to lose.
